Optimal Power Allocation for OFDM-Based Wire-Tap Channels with Arbitrarily Distributed Inputs

چکیده
In this paper, we investigate power allocation that maximizes the secrecy rate of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems under arbitrarily distributed inputs. Considering commonly assumed Gaussian inputs are unrealistic, we focus on secrecy systems with more practical discrete distributed inputs, such as PSK, QAM, etc. While the secrecy rate achieved by Gaussian distributed inputs is concave with respect to the transmit power, we have found and rigorously proved that the secrecy rate is non-concave under any discrete inputs. Hence, traditional convex optimization methods are not applicable any more. To address this non-concave power allocation problem, we propose an efficient algorithm. Its gap from optimality vanishes asymptotically at the rate of O(1/ √ N), and its complexity grows in the order of O(N), where N is the number of sub-carriers. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the efficacy of the proposed algorithm.

Secure Communications over Fading Channels
Abstract— The fading wire-tap channel is investigated, where the source-to-destination channel and the source-to-wire-tapper channel are corrupted by multiplicative fading gain coefficients in addition to additive Gaussian noise terms. The channel state information is assumed to be known at both the transmitter and the receiver. The parallel wire-tap channel with independent subchannels is firs...
متن کاملUsing WPT as a New Method Instead of FFT for Improving the Performance of OFDM Modulation
Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is used in order to provide immunity against very hostile multipath channels in many modern communication systems.. The OFDM technique divides the total available frequency bandwidth into several narrow bands. In conventional OFDM, FFT algorithm is used to provide orthogonal subcarriers. Intersymbol interference (ISI) and intercarrier interferen...
متن کاملOptimal SVD-based Precoding for Secret Key Extraction from Correlated OFDM Sub-Channels
Secret key extraction is a crucial issue in physical layer security and a less complex and, at the same time, a more robust scheme for the next generation of 5G and beyond. Unlike previous works on this topic, in which Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) sub-channels were considered to be independent, the effect of correlation between sub-channels on the secret key rate is address...

This paper assumes each user has more than one queue, derives a new packet-dependant proportional fairness power allocation pattern based on the sum of weight capacity and the packet’s priority in users’ queues, and proposes 4 new cross-layer packet-dependant OFDM scheduling schemes based on proportional fairness for heterogeneous classes of traffic. Scenario 1, scenario 2 and scenario 3 lead r...
متن کاملPower Allocation and Optimal Tx/rx Structures for Mimo Systems
In this paper we investigate power allocation in MIMO-OFDM systems. We describe the optimal power allocations under two different constraints: a constraint on the total power of all transmitters (TXs) which is applicable in wireless applications, and a constraint on the power of each TX which is more relevant in wireline applications. We describe the optimal TX/RX structure which in combination...
